Free food, cooking demonstratons, the Timebank Temptations and a free cook book - what more could you want?
From 11 - 1 on Wednesday 27th May Pilton Community Health Project and volunteers at Muirhouse Community Shop will be launching their new 'Cook and Taste' recipe book. The book (which we will be giving out for FREE) contains recipes that volunteers have been cooking in the shop over the past year. Local people have joined in and shared their favorite recipes, while staff from PCHP have been there to give some friendly advice and help.
“It’s been a great opportunity to do ground work in North Edinburgh, to be cooking with local people and learn with them. We want to celebrate their effort and commitment and the result of it with the community” said Memes Molina, Food Development Worker at PCHP. 'For some of these volunteers, it had been a while since they have last cooked at home but they came and shared their delicious dishes with the community. PCHP has put together these recipes in a recipe book called Cook and Taste'.
All the recipes in the book have been tried, tasted and went down really well with shop customers. “This is good, really tasty, may try to make it at home”, said Joan, one of the volunteers at the Muirhouse Community Shop when she tried the Ragu Bolognese.
Susan, one of the local volunteers who decided to share her macaroni cheese recipe said: “it’s lovely, quick and easy to cook in the house”.
Come along, watch staff and volunteers cook, pick up a recipe book, and try it at home.
Fun, healthy and free.
The recipe book will be available to download from our website after the event.
