The Headspace Project

The Headspace project is now in its second year in Broughton and Craigroyston High Schools. The project provides one-to-one support and group work for young men aged 12-18. It specifically targets young men who may be vulnerable to developing poor mental health but who may struggle to engage in formal counselling.

Headspace uses skills-based and educational approaches to help young men develop their:

Self-awareness

Self-confidence

Empathy for others

Motivation and concentration

Problem-solving abilities

Understanding of emotions

The project is based around 30-50 minute one-to-one sessions during school hours with the possibilities of paired or group work developing from these. The project is voluntary and during an initial session a young person can decide whether they would like to attend.

The project worker is trained in systemic therapy, consultancy and psychology.
